While looking for something else, I ran up against this article on Ars Technica.
As several books I’ve read in the last couple of years have been based on and around the 9th to 10th Century poem, called I thought you might like some more background information.
In essence, they’re saying that the copy ‘we’ have was written by two scribes, but that what they copied, was written by one person. If that doesn’t blow your mind, then read the article. Read it even if your mind is blown, and find out how on god’s green earth, they can figure all that out.
